Boxes of Treats


Three boxes each contain two delicious sweet treats

One box contains two cookies, another has two pieces of candy
while the third box contains one cookie and one piece of candy

Blindfolded, you take one of the treats from one of the boxes

Removing the blindfold, you see that you've taken a cookie

What are the odds that the remaining treat in the box you took
the cookie from is a cookie rather than a piece of candy?


Hint

You could have taken any one of three cookies

Bird in a Hole


A small bird has fallen into a hole at a golf course

This particular hole is extremely deep and has a sharp bend
in the middle, making it impossible to retrieve the bird by hand

To make matters worse, the ground around the hole is
made of hard clay, so digging the bird out isn't an option

However, there's something commonly found at a
golf course that you can use to get the bird out

What do you use to safely rescue the bird from the hole?
